Industrial Investment in Aeronautics Production: Hutchinson Expands Casablanca Facility with Cutting-Edge Technology and Eco-Responsible Approach

Aeronautics manufacturer Hutchinson has extended its production facility in Casablanca as part of an industrial investment of €12 million. The extension is a 4.0 production facility specializing in the manufacturing of composite aeronautics parts and cabin insulation solutions. The facility covers an area of 18,700 m2 and is dedicated to the production of aeronautic insulating blankets and composite equipment. With this new extension, Hutchinson will be able to concentrate its production capabilities on the Boeing B787 and B777 as well as the Airbus A330 and A220 beginning in 2023.

The inauguration of the new site was attended by Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour, Hélène Moreau-Leroy, Chairman and CEO of Hutchinson, and Philippe Olivier, Director of Aeronautics, Defense & Industry. The facility is equipped with cutting-edge technology tailored to the most recent requirements of the largest aeronautical contractors. It enables the production of highly crucial composite structural elements as well as a huge range of insulation systems that rank among the best in the world.

In a press release, Hutchinson stated that the site has the latest standards in terms of workstation ergonomics and is committed to an eco-responsible approach. The optimization tools installed will reduce material scrap rates by 10% and recycle 80% of the remaining waste. The electricity consumption of the building will be finely controlled thanks to IOT technologies installed on most of the machines and directly viewable by the teams.

The site has three latest-generation autoclaves, several very large digitally controlled machines, an automated storage tower, and a 3D scanner to digitally model the manufactured parts to ensure their geometric conformity.

The extension resulted in the creation of 400 job positions, of which 50 are for young engineers. The Moroccan government financed 30% of the investment, demonstrating Hutchinson’s commitment to and presence in the country.

With the opening of this facility, Hutchinson is poised to continue its growth in the aeronautics industry and maintain its position as a leader in the production of aeronautical parts and insulation solutions.
