Elements of the coast guard intercepted, on Thursday, 140km south-west of Dakhla, a pirogue carrying 141 Senegalese candidates for irregular migration, a military source said.
Having left the coast of the Senegalese town of Mbour on October 19, the would-be migrants were planning to head for the Canary Islands, the source added.
Those rescued were given the necessary treatment before being handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures.
